Stories and ExperiencesHey Thumper, Let me be the first to christen your blog. The good. I have met people who wish to greet, joke and occasionaly throw in some good natured banter as I do. I think I have probably learned a lot as well, like come prepared when trying to make a point as it will bite you in the butt when people question you. I've also learned a little more about my son (he is 15 and posts also) and how much he has grown up and expresses his opinion. Sometimes I think he is more mature then a lot of the adults that post here. The bad I will let go as it takes away from why I am here on Sportsline. Do I win on this also, lol |

Stories and ExperiencesWelcome everyone. I've been a member here on sportsline for a while and have had an experience being here. Mine actually started with an argument over the Mitchell Report and Steroids in Baseball. Anyways the guy was arguing that the report was a joke just like the Warren Commission Report on 9/11 which didnt make very much sense at all to me. I dont see where either one has to do with the other but hey that's me though. Another Argument I had was over LeBron James being the greatest ever Basketball Player which is just ridiculous at this point in his Career especially being named the King of Basketball. Personally I think there are a number of things he needs to work on before he can be called anything especially winning an NBA Title which the Cavs are on their way to with the Playoffs and while there are a lot of people who would say that he might or might not make it that far. He is still young and has plenty of time to win at least one championship. However LeBron is in my mind over publicized with all he has been given after being drafted #1 out of high school and given numerous sponsorships and a huge contract. Plus the three or four Magazine covers he's done. All of that being aside I do think he is a great player and will make an impact over the next few years and has a very good chance at being placed among the other greats of the game just not right now. Another argument was as to how smart I was about anything here. Now granted I have my opinions, concerns and comments but there are some out there that would say how inept I am or that I am a Pompous Windbag or just plain stupid. Thats just wrong to say that to anyone who has comments here. Everyone has their own and should be given the proper respect. I do understand that if I do post my comments there are going to be people who are going to respond and thats fine for the sake of argument but some go way out of their way to say otherwise and throw an insult instead of saying well gee "I disagree I see it like this". Overall though I have made some good friends and have had my share of good conversations about my teams and a few conversations about whatever on a couple of threads. |

Stories and ExperiencesI only joined 7 days ago but I wanted to share my first week experience because I believe that people who are new to the community may get something from it. I have been on cbssportsline for years playing fantasy football and love the site and every year I have been more and more impressed with the features, writings and overall content. One day someone posted a poll, who was better Vick or P. Manning? Well, I had something to say on that topic because I have had Peyton Manning on my fantasy team for many years and many other owners in my league joke that every year she takes Peyton and every year she goes out in the 1st round of the playoffs. So, there it is...that is why I joined. I plan to sharpen my skills, read as much as I can and win my league this year. In the last 7 days, I have gotten my reputation score to a 10...not bad in a week. I have answered polls, played games, read blogs, participated in message threads and posted, posted and posted some more. Things I have learned after 1 week: you can just respond with your first instinct to these threads and post haphazardly...but it is more rewarding to post on the threads that you feel passionate about and bring your A game. People are just as passionate as you and equipped to take you down if you do not state your case clearly and with supporting facts. Lots of silly topics besides sports gets talked about and sometimes those are just funny or there to help you build your reputation score...that's ok. Before you know it though, you will learn way more than you ever anticipated and you will look forward to your next post. I can't wait until I can post a message and polls. I plan to bring up thought provoking topics, generate some banter and just enjoy everything this cool site has to offer. Thanks for your blog... |

Stories and ExperiencesIt's funny but you know I have been watching some of these posts around the NBA message boards and I just have to laugh at the way some of the fans carry themselves. There are some out there that will lay claim that others are just using Gorilla Logic when referring to certain players and/or teams. To me it's all good. There are a lot of really interesting opinions out there about the playoffs. But I do want to extend a question to anyone who may read this what exactly constitutes Gorilla Logic besides having an opinion other than what some may have about whatever? I'm not expecting an answer but it's something to think about. |

Stories and ExperiencesOver the last few days I've noticed a lot of concern for other members here on Sportsline and I've gotta say man its great to know that there are some really good people out there in CBS Sportsland. Here it's not all about just a bunch of people talking/posting about Sports. It's friends talking about sports and whatever is on their minds while throwing sports into the mix. While there are some trolls out there making things hard to concentrate on the subjects it just makes the experience here more better knowing there are people that will rally around the ones they concider their friends. Now having said all that I wish to express my thanks to Jeep, Bio, Tundra, Hawkeye, Buckeyesrok, Amelas, Abez, Class, Hans, Geo, Cat, Jesusfreak, and Koala and their may be a few I forgot and Im sorry for that it's the old age making my brain mess up like that |

Stories and ExperiencesThumper, Nice job on this Blog. I agree with you 100%. There are so many great people here on the CBS site. It is amazing to me the level of true concern that our friends here on these boards show. I too am pretty new to CBS. The first thing I noticed was how quickly new members are accepted into the fold. Sure there are some posters whom we could all do without but, as a general rule most of the folks on here are good natured and knowledgable in sports as well as topics ranging from politics, to entertaiment, to philosophy, etc. For me, these boards are a diversion, if you will. They give me the opportunity step aside from the daily grind and dilute some stresses that are inherent to my current situation. I happen to be one of the lucky individuals who have the opportunity to post while at work. I guess it would be considered a perk. |

Stories and ExperiencesTo all who showed their concern for my mother and my family over the last couple of days. Thanks. All of you would be happy to know that she will be having her surgery Monday between 6am and 8am and its gonna be better than the doctor anticipated which is a relief to me and my dad. She did speak with the doctor earlier this evening here in Cali and he was saying how strong her heart was for a rambuncious 69 yr old which is cool for her. Anyways the bypass will only be a double to a triple bypass if necessary. I know I know its still major coz if she doesnt have it done then she will be done if she has a major heart attack but still its great news being not as bad as he expected. So we are expecting her to be down out of action for a little while but not to long knowing her. Now if I could only keep up with her I'd be doing fine. LOL. |

Stories and ExperiencesHello everyone. I promised an update and I never let down. They did get her up and ready as they usually do but the wheeled her down and had to cancel bcoz of an emergency that came in just before her so they're rescheduling her surgery for tomorrow hopefully early!!!!!!! The sooner the better I will say from time to time depending. |

Stories and ExperiencesGd Morning to all We did finally get a time for Mom's surgery and it should be around 1030 am PST thank god and they say the surgery will last around 4 to five hours give or take an hour depending on what they have to do exactly. But everyone is hoping that the doctor doesnt have to cancel out again. Yesterdays was due to another emergency come in that was way worse. I guess from what the doctor said the person had a massive coronary so Mom got bumped. So I guess thats about the whole story. I just wish it was all over right now so we could move on. |

Stories and ExperiencesGd Evening Everyone watching for news Finally heard some great news. Mom had her surgery and everything went well. She has a triple bypass and also had a leaky valve replaced which is strange to hear coz they replaced the valve with a cow's Valve (hhhhhhhmmmmmm). But anyways she will be staying in the hospital for a week through memorial day just to make sure she doesnt have any problems which they dont expect. But still they want to monitor for heart attack, stroke stuff like that. So we are all very relieved that everything went as good as it did. Jeez now we can get some sleep. jk |

. LOL Thanks all for your kind words, being friends and also the great treatment I have recieved from all of you. I do appreciate it all.
